NEXT STEP AFTER YOU GOT MARRIED IN THAILAND

NEXT STEP AFTER YOU GOT MARRIED IN THAILAND
  • Congratulation!, if you are already married to a Thai now.How lucky! But the process is still not finished yet. After you get marriaged, the non-thai partner must report the marriage to his or her embassy in thailand as soon as possible. This time, the marriage certificate that you got from Ampur must be translated into english language and authenticated by the ministry of foreign affair in Bangkok. Then you take this Thai-translated married certificate to the embassy of your country in Thailand. You will have to fill out some forms that ask about the information of your marriage such as : your witnesses, date & place of marriage, name and title of solemnizing officer etc.
  • Again you must be careful with the translation of your marriage certificate. As I told you in my previous post.Your translation might not be authenticated. This is not because it is wrong.Just that the officers that approving the translation for authentication are all ph.d..But each has his or her own standard. This is the truth.I have gone through it.I gave them the same translated document that was already approved, they said it need correction.I only changed the date.So if you translate documents by yourself (ministry said it's ok if you do),take the file of your transaltion with you.In case if you need to do correction, you just pay for printing.
  • Translation fee range between 250 baht to 500 baht.Make sure that they will do correction for free,if there is any.For convenience, you should use the translation service of a company that is close to the ministry of foreign affair.Even inside the ministry has one shop that do translation.I recommend the law office oppisite the ministry of foreign affair, just across the street.Their translation fee is 300 baht per page.It only takes about 1 hour for them to translate my singleness certificate. They also can do the authentication for you for just 100 baht.Very cheap!! I paid 400 baht for the same service. But if you have time,do it yourself. You just have to wait for it.
  • The authentication fee is 400 baht per page for normal service. You will get the documents after 3 working days. For express service, the fee is 800 baht per page and you get your documents within the same day.You can ask the ministry of forieng affair to return your documents by express mail service ( EMS) if you do not want to come back to pick up documents youself.
